Farm City Days 2010

Photo from the most recent demo at Farm City Days at Wisner Park in Elmira. Because of the questionable weather we were inside the church but still had a lot of people stop by to watch. There were lots of vendors inside and out and many events for young and old to participate in including a model raft race at the river for children hosted by the Friends of the Chemung River Watershed.

Guild members at the Fingerlakes Festival at Hemlock NY on September 18th. As always lots of fibers, critters and more to see and buy along with great workshops.

Whingblinger Event…

On Sept 11th & 12th Guild members participated in the annual Whingblinger event at the Benjamin Patterson Inn Museum in Corning NY.

This was our 3rd year at this event and as always we had a lot of people stop to watch, ask questions or try their hand at using a drop spindle.

Some of our members also volunteer in other ways. Sue and Rosie shown in period costume taking a lunch break not only helped with the spinning demo, they worked at the open hearth cooking and Rose also played her fiddle for the crowds. We are a talented bunch!

September 11th meeting, will be a demo at Benjamin Patterson Inn Museum in Corning. This will be our 3rd year participating in this event. Come join us, bring your spinning or other projects. Watch our members prep fibers we dyed using natural dyes at our last meeting, spin on a great wheel, spin flax, demonstrate open hearth cooking, weaving, one will even be playing a fiddle during the event.

In the photo one of the girls from the treetop day camp at Tanglewood Nature Center shows off her felted soap. We helped the girls dye fiber and then work on several felted projects, soap, bracelet, bag.
