As a continuation of last month’s meeting, several guild members will be available to demonstrate and teach others how to spin using drop spindles and how to weave using small loom or off loom methods.

If you have a small loom, spindle or other thing you need help with or something you want to share, be sure to bring it to the meeting.

See you then!

The guild met on April 5th.

Members arrived bringing a large variety of small looms, tools for off loom weaving, samples and more.   Everyone had time to check out the tables before the business part of our meeting.  Several members had updates and events to share, be sure to check the upcoming events part of the blog frequently for new things that will be coming up.

As we were finishing our discussion, our guest speaker, Br. Pierre from Mt. Saviour  Monastery arrived.  Br. Pierre talked a little bit about the monastery sheep, why they picked the breeds they did, how he became the shepherd for the flock and the items that are made from their sheep fleeces. Pierre brought along samples of wool items, woven or knitted and demostrated how to weave on an inkle loom.  Everyone seem to enjoy his presentation and we certainly learned a lot.  Thank you Br. Pierre for coming to our guild meeting!

After the presentation, members were free to examine looms and equipment more closely, ask questions about looms and even try using some of them and also to enjoy some refreshments.  We have some very good bakers in our group!  The May meeting will be a continuation of this meeting with weaving and hand spinning lessons.
